Säls fäbodar

The Old Swedish word for "fäbod" was "sael". Säl has been a pasture for centuries and today there are also permanent residents in Säl. The first permanent resident was written in Säl in 1910. The first record in which the pasture is mentioned is from 1494.

The last herdsman was Viola Larsson, who ceased her activities in 1962. The pasture is considered to have great cultural-historical and environmental value.

From the shed you can see far towards Siljansbygden and out over Västerdalarna. The many buildings and the winding gravel roads invite you to walk and have a coffee with a magnificent view.
