Enjoy a sense of wilderness in a hilly and wild forest landscape with dramatic rift valleys, beautiful woodland lakes, giant boulders by Stenkälla, views from the Trollkyrkobergen mountains and the swimming area at Vitsand.
In Tiveden National Park the forest is being allowed to evolve as natural forest. What is now growing here is a forest that has not been impacted by recent decades of large-scale forestry. Such a large contiguous area of old forest is very unusual in southern Sweden. The age and majesty of the forest and the wild configuration of the landscape is what gives this national park its character.
Tiveden National Park has an area of 2 030 hectares. It has a total of 34 kilometres of marked hiking trails offering walks of 0,9 to 9,5 km. The very hilly terrain and abundance of boulders make for stimulating but demanding hiking.

Veibeskrivelse
Tiveden National Park is difficult to reach without a car. The national park is easiest to reach by car from the south, from highway 49 between Karlsborg and Askersund. From there it is signposted towards Tiveden National Park. From there, a small road passes Stenkällegården before reaching the national park boundary. The road then continues north through the national park, past the main entrance and up to the public road between Askersund and Tiveden.
Forskrifter
In Tivedens it is forbidden, among other things, to:
- burning except in designated areas. All types of heating equipment or open-air stoves with combustion and open flames (powered by gas, alcohol, coal, wood, etc.) may only be used directly next to designated fireplaces.
- park except in the designated parking lot, but not with a motorhome/caravan between 00-06
- bring your dog if it is not on a leash
- drive motor vehicles except on designated roads
- camping except in designated areas and then only for one night between 18-10. Tents also include tarps, hammocks and the like.
- cycling except on designated cycle paths
- riding a horse except on roads and on designated riding trails
- damage vegetation
- disturb wildlife or cause noise in a disruptive manner
- fishing
- damage living or dead trees and bushes
- drive a motorboat, jet ski, drone or similar
But it is allowed to:
- pick berries and edible mushrooms for domestic use, but not protected species

Tivedens nationalpark är som vackrast att vandra i en barmarksvinter. Min vandrarsäsong börjar i oktober och sträcker sig till april om det är snöfritt. Tystnaden, färgerna, stillheten är magisk. Det är enkelt att hitta parkeringsplats vid entréerna och jag möter nästan ingen annan vandrare oavsett vilken led jag väljer. Det krävs dock bra skor för det kan bli slipprigt våta dagar.
Riktigt fascinerande natur, med fina vandringsleder.
