In Vänersborg, Lake Vänern flows into the Göta River on its way to Gothenburg. Here you can fish with in Vänersborgsviken, Vassbotten and the river Göta älv, among other places. In Vänersborg there are both bird protections and areas where fishing is prohibited that you need to pay extra attention to.
