Pilgrimsleden Kindaholm

The Kindaholm Pilgrimage Trail is a 49-kilometer-long hiking trail that runs between the churches in Kalv, Håcksvik, Östra Frölunda and Mårdaklev. The trail offers a historical walk through a varied landscape with beech forest, farmland, spruce forest and beautiful views along Lake Fegen.

The trail is mostly on private roads, but also partly on forest paths, field roads and public roads. It is possible to hike shorter distances and in some cases take a bus back.

The trail can be divided into four stages:

• Mårdaklev - Kalv, 7 km
• Kalv - Håcksvik, 17 km
• Håcksvik - Östra Frölunda, 14 km
• Östra Frölunda - Mårdaklev, 11 km

Along the trail there are several historically interesting places, including Kummeludden's Iron Age burial ground, the old customs mill at Gammalsjö and Klockaregården with its farmhouse paintings from the 1840s. There is also Kindahus, an old stronghold that was once a medieval border fortress and was part of the kingdom's defense against Denmark in the 15th century.

Along the trail there are three campsites with barbecue areas and dry toilets. There is a shelter at the campsite in Östra Frölunda/Mölneby. At the campsites in Mårdaklev and Kalv/Kättarp it is possible to put up tents.

To stay overnight at the campsites, you need to buy a camp voucher.

There are also several indoor accommodation options along the trail. In Kalv, there is Kalv family camping and the Kalv school house hostel. On the stretch between Håcksvik and Östra Frölunda, there is the old Lerbäcksbyn depot, which offers pitches, tents and houses for rent.

• Mårdaklev - Kalv: 7 km (about 1.5 hours)
• Kalv - Håcksvik: 17 km (about 3.5-4 hours)
• Håcksvik - Östra Frölunda: 14 km (about 3 hours)
• Östra Frölunda - Mårdaklev: 11 km (about 2-2.5 hours)

Good starting points are at one of the churches, Hemma på Klev, Kalvs camping or Handlarn i Kalv.

How to get here:
Västtrafik buses serve the area on weekdays from Svenljunga.
