Beskrivelse
Welcome to Kållandsö
Kållandsö is Lake Vänern’s second largest island
and an old farming and fishing area. The interesting culture
landscape was largely formed during the 1600s heyday. The island’s past
importance owes much to its strategic placement by the water, which in those
days offered the best means of communication. Kållandsö is a very popular place to visit all
year round. The area has a lot of history and offers rich cultural and nature
experiences, not least the stunning archipelago. During summer, thousands of
tourists cross the small bridge at Ullersund or arrive by boat to
visit attractions, activities and discover new favourite spots on the island. There is much to discover on Kållandsö. Local
nature offers great variety, and on land you can explore the island on foot or
on two wheels, as there are a number of excellent hiking and cycle trails.
If you prefer being out on the water, there are kayak tours and kayak
hire. You may even be lucky enough to spot an osprey or a sea eagle,
which are present in large numbers here in the archipelago. If you get hungry while out and about, fortunately
Kållandsö boasts a veritable cluster of well-reputed and cosy
restaurants where you can satisfy your appetite. Most of the businesses are seasonal. For more information about Kållandsö,
