Beskrivelse
Älgslingan is one of three slightly shorter circular loops up on Högkullen. Perfect if you want to hike a shorter day trip but still discover fantastic nature. The trail is 4.7 km long and takes you past several highlights.
Älgslingan runs in hilly terrain but with good quality paths and roads. Part of the route connects with the Kinnekulle hiking trail.
The trail passes the Stora Salen nature reserve, which is a popular excursion destination and offers a wide view of Lake Vänern archipelago. Stora Salen's meadow is mowed and raked in late summer and here you will find species-rich flora such as night violet, field gentian and bridal bread as seen in the picture above.
In addition, a beautiful biotope-protected spruce forest dominates the landscape. Walking in this large and relatively mature and untouched spruce forest is a special experience.
