A Sami cultural environment with interesting flora and geology.
From Atostugan there is a beautiful path up to the top of Atoklimpen, 1,006 m. It is a nice walk through sparse and beautiful mountain birch forest up to the tree line. Here a path turns south through the Atoklimpen cultural reserve, and the path to the top continues up/east. A suitable resting place is at the small pond up on the bare mountain.
Once you have passed the small pond and continue up the Atoklimpen itself, the path up to the top becomes unclear. Therefore, you should have good visibility when you continue the last bit.
The peculiarly shaped Atoklimpen, Aatoklimpoe/Aatoeklibpe in Sámi, was regarded by the Sámi as a very sacred mountain. The mountain also offers very interesting geology and flora.
The trip to the top from Atostugan takes about 4-5 hours round trip.
From Atostugan there is also a hiking trail, about 9 km, in mountain terrain around the Atoklimpen cultural reserve.

Parkering
Parking is available at road 1116 (Krutfjällsvägen). Park your car there and then follow the gravel road to Atostugan on foot where the trail then begins. Disabled parking is available right next to the entrance to the Atoklimpen cultural reserve.
Veibeskrivelse
Atoklimpen is 4 km west of Tärnaby. In Västansjö turn towards Joesjö/Hattfjelldal and after Boxfjäll, 2 km before the national border, Atoklimpen is on the left. Signposted.

Heligt berg, man kan se hur lavin påverkat växtligheten, offra mynt i bergväggen, fantastisk utsikt.
