Aigertstugan-Juovatjåhkka-Vuomatjåhkka-Tjulträsken-Tjulån, Närleder Ammarnäs

The local trails start from Ammarnäs Nature Center, where there are trail descriptions, information and experienced guides. The trail goes over Aigertstugan-Juovatjåhkka-Vuomatjåhkka-Tjulträskleden-Tjulån.

Take the bridge over Tjulån and follow the signs up to the parking lot at Entré Kungsleden and on towards Aigertstugan. The Ruovdatjeleden trail has both impressive views and a cool waterfall. First it leads through a herb-rich forest to the bridge and the impressive gorge that Ruovdatjjuhkka plunges down through. The drop is just over ten meters in the narrow and winding crevice with giant pots. Closer to Aigertstugan there is a fantastic view of Tjulån and Ammarnäs. There are several suitable resting places. At Aigertstugan there are two nice cabins and a sauna.

After Aigertstugan the hike goes up on the bare mountain. The trail passes Lill-Aigert, Jouvvatjåhkka rest shelter and Stuor-Áigart with a mile-wide view of Tjulträsken and the mighty Ammarfjället. Here you can choose to walk down to Dårraudden for a boat trip back to Ammarnäs. The boat is booked beforehand.

Later you pass Vuomatjåhkka rest shelter. The trail around Vuoma is a walk in Sami cultural history. Where the King's Trail crosses Servvejuhka there is a thundering waterfall. On the north side of Tjulträsken, follow the Tjulträskleden trail eastwards and pass Rödingvik. The small cottage in Rödingvik was built by Nils Sjulsson in 1899. The cottage is open as a resting place for hikers. The meadows around the cottage are very rich in species.

When you arrive at the Tjulträsk parking lot, follow the Tjulån river back to Ammarnäs. There are beautiful rapids and a sometimes dramatic landscape. Along the Tjulån river there are also thousand-year-old trapping pits. There are resting places and viewpoints along the trail.

Difficulty: Medium difficulty. Quite a lot of climbing in some places.
