Hällåskullen, Naturreservat

Hällåskullen is a reserve dominated by old, slow-growing and usually relatively sparse pine forest. Within the reserve there are also spruce-dominated parts, swamp forests and bogs. Many of the old pine trees are over 300 years old and a few are even over 400 years old.

The reserve is characterized by low-productive and sparse old pine forest with in many places large elements of very old pines. There are also pine-dominated natural spruce forests as well as swamp forests and open bogs.

The nature reserve with its natural forest character with low-productive, old and often relatively sparse pine forests in combination with more productive and denser spruce forest areas, together with the open bogs, is attractive to visitors seeking nature experiences in a beautiful environment. The number of pine trees over 300 years old in the reserve contributes greatly to the natural forest feel.

The top of Hällåskullen, 493 meters above sea level, offers an expansive view.

A large number of red-listed and signal species have been found in the reserve, and the whole area is a nationally important area for the red-listed beetle, the raggbok, which is bound to old sunlit dead pine trunks.

There are no facilities in the reserve, but you are welcome to explore the area on your own.
