Smultronställe Österbo fäbodar vid Nordansjö

Österbo fäbodar is a peaceful place in the forest. The old houses are beautifully situated by the small Hundsjön lake. Animals were already grazing here in the 13th century, but the houses you see today were moved here in the 1980s.

The Church Trail, which is part of the Uppland Trail, passes here on its way between Skekarsbo and Tärnsjö. Fäbodarna is a good place for a break during your hike. Or why not come here with the family to barbecue or try fishing in Hundsjön? Here you can borrow a rowing boat and fishing is free. There is a 1 km long hiking trail around Hundsjön.

At Österbo fäbodar there is a small rest cabin that is open all year round with three beds, fireplace, table and chairs. The old barn on the other side of the road also has some beds, tables and chairs. The red cabin can be rented via Nora parish. If you follow Kyrkstigen north, you will come to the old forest in Nordansjö nature reserve.

Österbo fäbodar is one of Uppsala county's treasures in nature. A nature reserve is an area with high natural and outdoor values that is accessible to visitors.
