Beskrivelse
Hike in a river environment, through pastures, discover old oaks and feel the wings of history at Salsta Castle. Blue markings on posts and trees lead you right into nature.
Salstaleden offers both cultural history, castle environment, ice age remains and beautiful old oaks. The walk runs between Vattholma and Skyttorp train stations, largely up on Vattholmaåsen, which winds its way through the landscape. You pass Salsta Castle and sometimes glimpse Fyrisån. At Salsta Castle there is a café open some days in the summer and there are also castle tours. See their website for more information.
North of Salsta Castle at the bridge over Fyrisån you can see traces of beavers. There is a picnic area with picnic tables near the bridge.
The trail is seven kilometers long. Between Vattholma and Salsta the trail runs on a gravel road. From Salsta to Skyttorp, the trail follows the ridge on forest paths and through pastures.
You can expect it to take about 2.5 hours to walk the trail.
Due to spruce bark beetle infestation, parts of the forest have been felled along the trail.

Trustees: Upplandsstiftelsen is the principal, Uppsala municipality is responsible for operation. The Åstråkens Turimsförening are the trail hosts.
Parkering
Parking is available in Vattholma (by the train station) and Skyttorp (near the school) and at Salsta Castle.
Kommunikasjon
Feel free to take the train to Vattholma or Skyttorp. Salstaleden starts/ends on the eastern side of the stations. There are also buses to Vattholma and Skyttorp.

Bra skyltat från tågstationen och genom hela leden. Det var lätt att ta sig till och från leden med kollektivtrafiken tåg från Uppsala/ Vattholma/ Skyttorp. Trevlig led och lätt att gå, perfekt för en lättare dagstur. Finns ett café vid slottet där man kan fika.
