Oxhagen

The ox garden is full of cowslips and cowslips in spring. The gardens in the nature reserve are easy to reach, they are located just off road 290 north of Skyttorp. Here, in addition to flower-rich pastures, you are greeted by lush forest and Vattholmaåsen, which rises above the landscape. At the top of the ridge there is a viewpoint with benches. During the green season there are usually cows in the pasture.

In Oxhagen there are two path loops. One, called the loop on the signposts, is 0.6 km long and takes you through the south-eastern part of the meadow. Here you walk through deciduous forest with hazel and old rough oaks.

The second path leads you down to the narrow channel, Träsundet, where Fyrisån passes and then back. Träsundet is an old canal between Knivstasjön and Storsjön. It was dug at the end of the 19th century to lower the water level in the lakes upstream. The path is 1.8 km long back and forth and goes through pastures and forest. In places it is somewhat difficult to walk with stones and roots.

Oxhagen is a cozy picnic spot. Not far from the parking lot, the meadow opens up with large areas to spread the picnic blanket on. There are also picnic tables here.

The viewpoint on Vattholmaåsen is one of Uppsala County's favorite spots in nature. A nature spot is an area with high natural and outdoor values that is accessible to visitors.
