Beskrivelse
In and around Uppsala there are eight Linnaeus trails, reconstructions of Linnaeus' own excursion routes. The Jumkil walk is the only walk that originally did not start from any city toll, but required transportation and an overnight stay. The day before the excursion, the students traveled by horse and carriage to Jumkil church, where they were accommodated in various farms overnight. Then they walked from Örnsätra into the forests to the west.
Even today, the large Jumkil forests are an experience for hikers. The walk takes you through the stream gorge in Örnsätra Forest Nature Reserve, over rocky areas and through magical old-growth forest with moss-covered boulders. In the old-growth forest you will find plants such as linen and knotweed. Towards the end of the walk you reach Långmossen, the rich bog that was Linnaeus' main destination where the remarkable King Karl's Spire bloomed.
There is a barbecue area at Studentvilan at the end of the walk.

Veibeskrivelse
The walk takes place in the forests west of Jumkil, between Örnsätra Nature Reserve and Studentvilan.
The easiest way to get to the Jumkil hike is by car. There are two parking lots, one at Jakobsdal and one at Studentvilan. Both can be reached from the exit at Blackstalund along road 272.
From Uppsala, take road 272 towards Gysinge. Turn left at Blackstalund where there are signs for Linnéstig P and Ullbolsta. After a couple of hundred meters, follow the road to the right, turn left towards Linnéstig P and Ullerängen. Drive straight ahead and continue forward onto the forest road. Follow the blue and white Linnéstig signs towards the Linnéstig parking lots.
From road 272 it is 3.6 km to Jakobsdal, from where you can walk the Linnaeus Trail east towards Örnsätra nature reserve (1.2 km) or west towards Studentvilan (3 km). If you continue to drive the forest road for another 3 km, you will reach the Studentvilan parking lot, from where you can hike the Linnaeus trail east towards Örnsätra nature reserve (4.2 km).
Since the Linnaeus Trail is a stretch, not a circular loop, you must walk the same way back to one of the parking lots or to the bus stop at road 272.
There is also an information board about the Jumkil walk at Jumkil church, which is reached via another exit along road 272, about 3 km before Blackstalund.
