Beskrivelse

The small Ältsjön is a recreated lake. In the 19th century, the water was lowered to create new farmland. In 2002, a dam was built in the outlet and the water was raised again by about 1 m. This meant that the reeds decreased and birds such as whooper swan, brown harrier, graylag goose and goldeneye returned.

The lake is surrounded by a hilly landscape with open rocks and mixed forests with lots of oak. Former fields and pastures have become overgrown, but meadow plants such as cowslip still exist, and in the southern part you can see grove plants such as lungwort. On old deciduous trees you can find lungwort, which requires old forest and fresh air.

There is a 2.4 km long path around the lake. You can stop at the picnic and barbecue area in the middle of the western side of the lake.
