Lilla dalens -slingan

In the middle of the concrete jungle in Alby and Tumba you will find this gem of a hiking trail. Here you walk through airy forest edges among birches and oaks, over moss-covered hollows with dense spruces. Up on the rocky ground, old low-growing pines grow surrounded by a wealth of lichens.

Once up on the rocky ground, you can discover a remnant from ancient times, namely a stone cairn that is a grave from the Bronze Age. Here you can stop for a while and look out over Lake Tullingesjön and imagine what the landscape looked like when the cairn was built. How much of the area was inhabited then? Were there, as today, fields in the valley below, or perhaps pasture? How much bigger was the lake then? Well, there's a lot to wonder about, isn't there?

One thing is certain, when you hike Lilla Dalensslinga, you get a good picture of Södertörn's rift valley landscape, with forested heights and cultivated valleys.
