Bårsjön naturreservat

Bårsjön is a small lake that is largely covered by floating-leaf vegetation and bordered by marshland. The lake is surrounded by species-rich wetlands and swamp forests. There are many rare and red-listed species. Here you can find various pyrola species, orchids and mosses, including flat splash moss. Bårsjön is one of the country's most valuable mire areas according to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's "Myrskyddsplan för Sverige" (1994).

The wetland is an important spawning ground for various animals. Frogs, cranes and ospreys visit the area regularly. The yellow-marked Täljeleden hiking trail (23 km) runs along the southern shore of the lake. The paths leading to and around Bårsjön are forest paths. You can expect very uneven terrain, stones, roots, sometimes fallen trees, wet and muddy areas.

Bårsjön nature reserve was established in 2004, is 73 ha in size and is managed by the Stockholm County Administrative Board. The government has also designated the area as a Natura 2000 site.
