Cykeltips från Statsministerresidens till genuin Bruksmiljö

The bike ride starts from Mellösa over the railroad and soon you will find an idyll, Mellösa church village.

The village is located in an old cultural area where the surrounding forest was inhabited during the Middle Ages. Make a small stop and go to Mellösa Prylmarknad. A few kilometers west of the community is the prime minister's residence Harpsund.

Harpsund is the recreational residence of the Swedish Prime Minister. SLU is in charge of the farming and forestry operations, while the National Property Board manages the representative part of Harpsund, i.e. the main buildings, the garden and the park. The property was donated to the Swedish state.

Harpsund Manor was built in the 17th century and since then the park and garden have been developed. The Wicander family bought the estate at the end of the 19th century to use as a country house. The house and garden were adorned with works of art and sculptures. A garden, kitchen garden, orchard and nature park were created.

Harpsund is not open to visitors, but you are welcome to wander outside the park and see the famous wooden oak!

The tour takes you further towards Hälleforsnäs, a mill community founded in the 17th century for casting cannons. Many of the buildings around the mill were added during the Celsing era with the help of the prominent architect Johan, Fredrik Åbom.

Today, the old mill is a cluster and even a trading center with food in focus. Here you will find award-winning cheeses from Jürr's dairy, first-class food at Bruksrestaurangen and unique flavors at Högtorp farm, where the forest's raw materials are refined. There is also Flens tourism with the Art Gallery and the Foundry Museum. Annual musical performances in the old Kolhuset and exciting concerts on the Mill's outdoor stage.
