Rundslinga Sya, Östgötaleden

The loop takes you between Vifolkavallen and Sya village, via Solberga nature reserve through varied nature and exciting cultural history.

If you choose to hike “clock-wise” from Vifolkavallen, the trail takes smaller streets and bike paths out of the town, and then turns into the old “National route 1”, Sweden’s main road during 1945–1955. Parts of the road were made of hand-hewn paving stones. At the beginning of a magnificent avenue, there was probably one of King Magnus Ladulås 13th century royal estates.

The trail continues to Solberga nature reserve. Here you hike through lush oak groves and, in certain seasons, with the young animals that graze on the slope down to Svartån. People have lived around Solberga for millennia, as evidenced by the Iron Age grave fields.

In Sya you can stop at the vegan restaurant/cafeteria for coffee or lunch. There is also a bus connection here.

At Sya ski stadium, 2 km outside Sya, the car park, barbecue area, rest area and toilet are open all year round. From here to Vifolkavallen it is about 8 km on forest paths through beautiful forest environments. There is a barbecue area on the road after about 4 km.
