Beskrivelse
At the heart of the reserve lies Mittmyran, a wetland that is both open and forested, dominated by old, slow-growing spruces and birches. This moist environment is home to many species that thrive on old trees and dead wood. Kvarnbäcken flows through the reserve in a naturally meandering course, contributing to the area's biological diversity.
The forests in the reserve have been partially affected by logging, especially in the more accessible areas, but with the establishment of the reserve, nature will gradually return to a more natural state. Ditches will be filled in to heal the wetland, and trees will age, die, and fall to the ground. The areas with the highest natural values are found in the wetland and along Kvarnbäcken, where species dependent on dead wood thrive, such as the threatened wood fungus rynkskinn.
The Sirges and Tuorpon Sami villages use the forest in Mittimyran as winter and early spring grazing land, and a migration route runs through the reserve.

The nature reserve is located about 3 km north of the village of Murjek and can be accessed via road 841, which runs through parts of the reserve.

It is
allowed to:
- Camp
- Hike
- Pick
berries and edible mushrooms
- Make a
fire (remember to bring your own firewood!)
- Ride
snowmobiles on well-covered snow
- Fish and
hunt in accordance with applicable laws
It is not
permitted to harm plant and animal life. Remember to respect the right of
public access and take care of nature!
