Beskrivelse
The Gårdsby and Hemmesjö Bökeskog (beech forest) is one of the pleasant hidden treasures in the vicinity of Växjö. Despite this fact, this nature reserve is relatively unknown.
Walk through the sparkling beech forest in the summertime, and hear the call of the stock dove. Explore the lake trail to the pastures near Lake Lövsjön, and their multitudes of butterflies. Or hike to the natural spring in this area, set among damp autumn trails and red foliage. Many of the hardwood trees here are hundreds of years old, and serve as homes to unusual insects, such as the extremely rare Denticollis rubens beetle. The lesser woodpecker, wood warbler and the hawfinch also thrive in this area. In certain years, the lesser flycatcher can be heard. The gold-crested wren has been observed. The Gårdsby and Hemmesjö Bökeskog nature reserve is located between Vikensved-Hinnamåla, about one mile east of Växjö.
Forskrifter
You are welcome to visit the nature reserve, but please note that it is not allowed to:
- drive motorized vehicles outside existing roads and parking areas
- disturb the wildlife, for example by approaching a nest or similar
- destroy or damage fixed natural objects or surface formations, for example by digging, drilling, painting, chiseling or otherwise damaging rocks, boulders or the like
- felling or otherwise damaging living or dead trees and shrubs
- pick or dig up rice, herbs, mushrooms, mosses or lichens other than berries or edible mushrooms for domestic use
- catch or collect insects, snails, worms or other invertebrates
- camping or setting up a caravan or motor home
- making a fire
- put up a board, sign, poster or similar device
- bring an unleashed dog or other loose pet
- conduct competitions, exercises, camps or similar activities in the reserve without the permission of the manager.
Other legislation on what you are allowed to do in the forest and land also applies in the nature reserve.
