Fallebo farm is owned by Oskarshamn municipality and run by the association Magasinets Vänner. The farm was in operation until 1978. The last tenant at Fallebo was Knut Andersson. The barn was demolished and the pastures grew back. The farmhouses were dismembered and sold to private residents.

Who lives here?

Fallebo farm is beautifully situated by the Havslätts exercise area. The farm currently has chickens, horses, rabbits and sheep. The farm is an open visitor farm and you can walk freely in pastures and on hiking trails. There is an information board on the farm with pastures and hiking trails marked.

A park spreads around the farm's main building. There are various types of trees such as robinia, beech, hornbeam, lime, chestnut and others. Nearby ponds and good access to dry trees, fruit-bearing trees and shrubs contribute to a rich bird and insect life. Among the birds are woodpeckers and among the insects, oaks.

On the upper floor of the warehouse, which was built in 1850-1880, there is an exhibition of objects from the collections of the Hembygdsförening. In the park, a place has been prepared for naming, baptism, weddings and other ceremonies.

History of Fallebo farm

Fallebo first appears in 1537, but then as Falleboda. It was in Gustav Vasa's land books. In 1660, the two farms were merged into one farm, as one was deserted and evicted. At the end of the 17th century, the Danes ravaged the Småland coast. They plundered and burned down. After burning down Saltvik, a man was sent to set fire to Fallebo. According to tradition, he was killed by Per i Fallebo and the buildings were saved.

Owner of Fallebo farm

In 1840, Hultenheim at Fredriksberg manor bought Fallebo farm. At the end of the 1800s Fallebo was owned by a Vestrin with a Dahlberg as tenant. In 1934, Albert Johansson sold Fallebo farm to the town of Oskarshamn for SEK 49,000. The city leased Fallebo to first Evald Svensson and then to Knut Andersson 1943-1978. The municipality parceled off and sold the houses that are now private residences. Otherwise, the houses and the land are owned by the municipality, but the business is run by the non-profit organization Magasinets vänner.
