Beskrivelse
Here you will find a nature reserve with old, well-grown spruce forest that resembles the original forests through its trees of different ages and large amount of dead trees. In a free-growing forest, there are trees of different ages, dead trees both standing and lying on the ground. You can see that the dead, lying trunks have been broken down to different degrees by nature. Insects thrive in the dead parts of the trees, and so do birds that like insects. The dead wood is 'alive'. Another characteristic of a primeval forest is that there are many wood fungi on the decaying trees. The number of plant and fungal species is much higher than in younger forests.

Follow Jormvägen north from Gäddede. Drive about 19 kilometers until you reach Rolandstorp and then turn right. Follow the new road for about 5 kilometers, then you will arrive at the nature reserve which is on the left side of the road. An information sign will be put up in 2020.
Forskrifter
Welcome to Väktardalen. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of any kind, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately damaging or disturbing wildlife,
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make a fire, other than with firewood brought in.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
