Beskrivelse
Here is a primeval spruce forest, draped in hanging lichens. In the darkness between the branches you can see large numbers of fallen trees that are slowly decaying. There are also old pine trees. The oldest trees are 350 years old. The river Malmån runs along the western border of the reserve.

About 13 kilometers north of Strömsund, on road E:45, you come to a turn-off, signposted Backe. Turn right there and drive about 4.3 kilometers to a southbound minor forest road. On this forest road you drive about 4.5 kilometers to reach the reserve.
Forskrifter
Welcome to Malmån. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- capture, disturb or harm mammals, birds, frogs and reptiles, as well as damage their nests and spawning grounds or collect eggs,
- pick and collect species of any kind, except berries and edible mushrooms
- climbing nest trees or deliberately staying closer than 100 meters to a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make fires, other than with firewood, and
- drive motorized vehicles in terrain except on existing snowmobile trails
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.

Åkte skidor i reservatet. Finns en p-plats ute vid E45:an sedan bara att följa skogsvägen till kraftledningen och där ta av söderut. Du passerar då en järnväg, på andra sidan börjar reservatet.
Mycket fina gamla tallar!
