Beskrivelse
The forest has been allowed to grow in peace and quiet for a long time. It thrives thanks to the nutrient-rich soil containing lime. Here and there, there are dead trees still standing or lying on the ground. Both insects and birds like to be on and around the old, graying trees. Some of these wood-boring fungi are, for example, the border tick, the woolly tick and the hare tick. If you are here at the right time during the summer, you can experience when the guckuskon blooms. If you stand in the right place, you can see that it's like a long, narrow valley that runs right through the nature reserve. The ravine was created when the ice sheet melted. It almost looks like a canal.

By car: Follow the E45 south from Östersund and turn off towards Tandsbyn. Take the turnoff to the southeast in the middle of Tandsbyn and follow it for about 7 kilometers, then the nature reserve is on the right side of the road. Total driving distance from Östersund to Lokes nature reserve is about 2.5 miles.
Forskrifter
Welcome to Loke. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of any kind, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately harming or disturbing wildlife,
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road.
Exemptions from the regulations
The above regulations shall not prevent:
- the manager of the nature reserve, or the person commissioned by the manager, to take the measures necessary to fulfill the purpose of the nature reserve and which are stated in the regulations above,
- to conduct reindeer husbandry in accordance with the Reindeer Husbandry Act (1971:437) or to drive a motorized vehicle during reindeer husbandry in accordance with exceptions in the off-road driving ordinance (1978:594),
- to drive a motorized vehicle in rescue services and in case of illness,
- government officials to drive motorized vehicles on official business,
- to transport felled bears, moose, deer or wild boar by motorized vehicle on solid ground,
- landowners and holders of special rights to use off-road scooters on snow-covered land in connection with inspection and other use of the land (including when transporting felled game).
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.

Reservatet är fint men väldigt svårframkompligt pga alla nedfallna träd. För att öka tillgängligheten vore det väldigt bra om det fanns någon rensad stig i reservatet. Den behöver ju inte vara så lång men det är nog väldigt få som klarar av att vandra i skogen som den ser ut nu.
Vi stötte på något som såg ut som en gammal körväg i reservatet och på några få ställen såg det ut som att någon försökt rensa den på fallna träd med motorsåg.
