Experience the drama of nature as the Lill-Rånden river meanders past boulders, flows over pine rocklands and drops down small precipices to calm down in calm waters. It was a powerful meltwater flood during the melting of the last ice age that shaped the dramatic landscape along Lill-Rånden. In the southern half of the reserve, the pine forest is clearly influenced by the limestone bedrock. Several mosses, lichens, fungi and vascular plants worthy of conservation can be found around the large boulders and rocks. Sixty-seven species have been found in the area, 18 of which are on the Red List of Threatened Species.

By car, you can reach the nature reserve from Hede by driving Rånddalsvägen 14.5 km before the road changes name to Synderkölen. Continue another 9.7 km along Synderkölen and then turn right onto the road Överåndan, which you follow for 1.5 km before you arrive and have the nature reserve on your right.
Forskrifter
Welcome to Lill-Rånddalen. Keep in mind that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of various kinds, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately damaging or disturbing wildlife,
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make fires, other than with firewood brought in
- drive a motorized vehicle.
Exemptions from the regulations
The above regulations shall not constitute an obstacle to:
- the manager of the nature reserve, or the person commissioned by the manager, to take the measures necessary to fulfill the purpose of the nature reserve and which are stated in the regulations above,
- to conduct reindeer husbandry in accordance with the Reindeer Husbandry Act (1971:437) or to drive a motorized vehicle during reindeer husbandry in accordance with exceptions in the off-road driving ordinance (1978:594),
- to drive a motorized vehicle in rescue services and in case of illness,
- government officials to drive motorized vehicles on official business,
- maintenance of an existing hunting tower or replacing an old hunting tower with a new one on the same site
- transporting killed bear, elk, deer or wild boar by motorized vehicle on solid ground, or by light (<400 kg) tracked vehicle on wet ground,
- clearing and maintenance of the existing hiking trail according to the map, Appendix 1. Fallen trees over the hiking trail may be moved or cut but must be left in the nature reserve,
- hunting and fishing.

Från Råndalsvägen till informationstavlan är det ganska stökig framkomlighet med bil. Vintertid är sträckan skoterled. Förekommer stenar som kräver lite markfrigång. Vid nederbörd får man räkna med stora bruna pölar som döljer groparna och man får ta det riktigt försiktigt. Sly på sidorna sträcker sig långt in på sina håll så har man en fin bil får man vara uppmärksam för att undvika repor.
Vacker vandringsled men något krävande. Vi hade tänkt oss trail-löpning men det hade regnat och fick snarare en rask promenad. Mäktigt vattenfall. Riktigt läckert vindskydd.
