Beskrivelse
In Åsarna you will find one of Scandinavia's largest stone arch bridges. The beautiful stone arch bridge was inaugurated on May 11, 1852 and stretches over the river Ljungan. The bridge is today off the main roads, but is still passable and a beautiful excursion destination both by car and on foot as the Love Trail also has its starting point here.
The arch is built of cut wedge-shaped granite blocks and the span measures 24 m.
Three previous attempts had been made to build a stone bridge over the river, but all had collapsed. In the first collapse in 1848, a man was killed while demolishing the wooden structure used to support stone bridges. The other collapses were caused by the spring flood.
