Bergastigen

The Bergastigen path is named after the croft Berget that you pass. The last crofter lived here in the 1920s with eight children, a cow and a pig. The croft was bought out according to the Hermitage Act. That is why it is still there. The owners of Öströö preferred to tear down the crofts so that they could escape the burden of support.

**Skrape-Finas is one of Halland's few preserved hill cottages. These were mostly dug into the hillside, which saved building material and provided some thermal insulation. Skrape-Fina lived here with her six children. She supported herself by doing day labor in the village and took everything that could be used - hence the name. She died in 1957, aged 89. Ugglehult - "Denmark's Bergslagen" At Ugglehult in Sibbarp in the 12th century there was an iron mill, that is, a water-powered iron production site. This is the earliest example in the Nordic region and one of the earliest in Europe of the power of water being used for iron production - a crucial innovation. There is a large slag heap, the remains of a forge, foundation stones for a water wheel and a dug canal leading to the water wheel.
