Beskrivelse
The nature reserve Västers myr is a forest and wetland area along and east of Vikeån (Västers canal) and south of road 147 in Boge parish. The reserve is the last remaining part of what was, until the end of the 19th century, a larger wetland complex that was also then known as Västers myr.
There are rich marshes with a species-rich flora left and during the summer months dozens of orchids can be seen here along with spectacular marsh species such as brown eyebright, bloodroot, mountain lily, marsh lily, meadow starling, fleabane and mayflower.
The forest in the reserve is old, swampy in places and bears clear traces of grazing. Although large parts of the forest, especially the southern part, bear traces of production-oriented thinning and dimensional felling, the rich soil fungus flora found here testifies to long forest continuity and a species-rich forest ecosystem. 26 different soil fungi have been found here, 19 of which are red-listed. Among other things, there are species worthy of protection here, such as the violet, white thorn, black-green spider and yellow-strung spider.
