Beskrivelse

When you arrive at Börningsberget Nature Reserve, you will be greeted by old-growth forest covered in lichens. Follow the path through the reserve and you will experience forests with glades and trees of all ages - from young seedlings to tree giants that are almost 400 years old. Visit Börningsberget's forest museum, which is located next to the nature reserve. Admission is free and a visit there shows old-time forestry. Parking and outhouses are available at the nature reserve entrance. The area is located west of Los and covers 102 hectares. A large part of the forest consists of pine trees that are several hundred years old, with some trees up to 40 meters high. Dead wood in the form of lying and standing dead trees is present in the area. There are a number of threatened species of mosses, lichens, fungi and insects.

Among other things, the black thistle and the pin yellow lichen grow here. In the southern part of the reserve there is a stream and several puddles, which makes the soil fertile and rich in herbs.

Newly renovated forest museum

In the past, forest fires occurred much more often than today, and in Börningsberget you can see traces of these fires in the old pines. In the western part of the reserve, there is a forest museum with charcoal huts, tools, sledges and other equipment associated with working in the forest.

The mighty forest in the area is an attraction and a popular destination. The area previously consisted of two former domain reserves totaling 27 hectares, but was expanded into a single nature reserve in 2013.

Tät och ogenomtränglig skog. Ett mycket trevligt skogsmuseum.
