Jätturn naturreservat

Jätturn is a nature reserve with a hike to a cave that you can row out to during the summer months. A fun destination for the whole family.

The hike to Jätturn takes place on trails in mighty forests with rocky outcrops, meadows and beautiful lakes. On the southern shore of Lake Jätturn there is a cave formed by the weathering of limestone. The walls of the cave are carved with initials, the oldest of which date from the 17th century. The Giant's Cave is one of the oldest natural attractions in Finland.

There is a charcoal hut, a fireplace and tables and benches at Jätturn. It's a nice place to eat your packed lunch. From here, a footpath runs around the lake. It is a nice round that is just over 1 km long.

There are two rowing boats in the lake that everyone can borrow, so you can row across the lake and into the cave. Be careful, bring your own life jacket and moor the boat properly afterwards.

In the reserve there are cultural remains from two crofting sites, Jätturnvallen and Lilla Bråfallet, and in the far north there is the Bråfalls stone, which is migmatite and has clearly folded wave bands in the structure of the stone.
