Kuvaus

Siljansnäs church, from 1875, is beautifully situated at the foot of Björkberget.

In 1866 Siljansnäs became its own parish and the following year construction of the village's own church began. After many tiring rowing trips in church boats to the mother church in Leksand, the people of Siljansnäs could go to their own church, which is beautifully situated at the foot of Björkberget. The church was completed in 1875 and was consecrated the same year by the contract dean D. E. Boethius in Ål. The first episcopal visitation was held by Bishop Gottfrid Billing in 1898.

The church was built with a three-nave nave with whitewashed grey stone walls, a tarred chipboard roof and the sacristy in an extension behind the altar, separated from it by a high screen. The church building is characterized by the neoclassical style with some elements of neo-Gothic - a popular style in architecture at the time. Johan Fredrik Åbom, who also designed the churches in Hamrånge and Njurunda, was hired as the architect. A local contractor, Björk Anders Jonsson from Vikarbyn, was chosen as the construction manager.

Next to the church there is a tin box with pilgrim passports and pilgrim stamps for those walking the St Olav Rombo Way pilgrimage trail.
