Description

TÖSSE SKÄRGÅRD

The Tösse archipelago is the largest one on the
western side of Lake Vänern. This beautiful archipelago, consisting of about
thirty wooded islands and a large number of islets and skerries, offers fine
paddling waters. The islands of Svegön, Sandön and Björkön have attractive
sandy beaches and good places for camping. On the islands there are barbecue
sites, toilets and hiking trails. A total of six islands in the archipelago
have been inhabited, and today there are four preserved croft sites from the nineteenth
century. Three of them belong to the municipality of Åmål and are open to the
public. These well-preserved buildings and croft sites are well worth a visit.
The inviting archipelago is easily accessible for canoes and kayaks from the
boat ramp at the car park at Tössebäcken outside Tösse. The many islands in the
archipelago offer outstanding opportunities for both single paddlers and larger
groups to experience nature.
