Nya Lapphyttan blast furnace — Norberg

Iron ore has probably been mined and processed around the town and municipality of Norberg for over 1,000 years. An archaeological excavation north of the nearby village of Olsbenning revealed a complete mediaeval iron blast furnace in a place that has long been popularly known as "Lapphyttan". Today, visitors can find a fully reconstructed blast furnace, called "Nya Lapphyttan”, not far from Norberg's town centre. There, they can experience and learn first-hand about the Bergslagen area's mediaeval mining industry.
