Description
If you want to experience peaceful wilderness, far away from noise, traffic and stress, head to Lapland. However, you don't have to go that far, as the Lapland nature reserve is located just east of Skinnskatteberg. Here you can enjoy virtually untouched wilderness with vast marshes and sparse pine forest.
At Hovtjärn there is a shelter where you can sit down for a coffee and look out over the lake. The view is beautiful and here you get a chance to breathe in the silence and just be for a while. At Bladtjärnen is the reserve's second windbreak. There is also a nice barbecue area.
Parts of the reserve are untouched and without paths and therefore you can get a feeling of real wilderness. In winter, when the snow has settled, Lapland is perfect for cross-country skiing. Skiing across the vast moors is a wonderful experience of nature.
In the south-eastern part there is a trail where you can see the traces of former conservation burning. There are also information signs where you can read about how conservation burning works and how it contributes to biodiversity.
All fishing is prohibited in the nature reserve.

From Skinnskatteberg, take road 233 Köpingsvägen south towards Västerås. After 6 km there is a parking lot with a reserve sign on the right side of the road. There is also an information board.
