Due to the highway work, the tunnel under the E18 on Odensvivägen is closed, on the way back to Köping from Odensvi. Instead, you can turn left onto a gravel road at Uckelsta, about 350 meters after the exit to Gålby and the golf course. This road passes Fågelsången, Backudden and through an allotment area, back to Odensvivägen. See updated map.

Description

A lovely trip when the weather is nice, pump the tires and load the picnic basket.

We suggest a trip to Kolsva along the cycle track, the KUJ track, where the narrow-gauge trains towards the mills in Hedströmsdalen went. Easiest to start at Ströbohög, the ancient monument that rises as a landmark for Köping on road 250 and visible from the E18.

The old KUJ track is easily cycled, you pass Malma Kyrka, Åsby and Tyskbron. In some places there are information boards, tables and benches for those who want to take a little break. When you approach Kolsva, you can turn right at Guttsta Bryggeri, cross road 250 and follow it towards Kolsva a little way up the hill and turn right towards Torsmossen. Be careful, road 250 is busy!

Pass Kulinge and continue towards Odensvi, paved, slightly hilly and curvy road. In the distance you can see the beautiful church in Odensvi, the old church from the 13th century was destroyed by fire in 1776. The church was rebuilt and consecrated the following year in its present form. The sacristy, which is part of the old church, has beautiful vault paintings from the 15th century with the Virgin Mary motif. There is one of the country's oldest stained glass windows from the 14th century in the chancel window, depicting Bishop Egislaus, who has roots in Odensvi. A stone's throw from the church is Dybecksgården.

Dybecksgården and Richard Dybeck Richard Dybeck was born here in the vicarage on September 1, 1811, the family consisted of father, mother and five siblings. He received a legal education, but despite this, Dybeck had a greater interest in archaeology. He collected songs and songs and studied ancient remains. He started the magazine Runa, which was published at various times, a magazine with folkloristic and antiquarian content.

The national anthem Dybeck is best known for writing the lyrics to what would later become the Swedish national anthem. 'Du gamla, du fria' was first performed in November 1844. It was not until several years later that 'Du gamla, du fria' became the national anthem. Richard Dybeck died on July 28, 1877. At the edge of the river just north of the courtyard there is a memorial stone that the people of the village erected in memory of Richard Dybeck. Odensvi Hembygdsförening organizes traditional parties and harvest market at Dybecksgården.

At Kindbron, the road goes back towards Köping, in the area there are farms such as small and large Arla. The first cooperative dairy in Sweden started here. Bällsta, Rysta and Uckelsta are other farm names along the road that is lined with sunflowers some years, an occasional flax field sometimes and especially in summer all the beautiful flowers.

Due to the highway work, the tunnel under the E18 on Odensvivägen is closed. Instead, you can turn left onto a gravel road about 350 meters after the exit to Gålby and the golf course. See updated map.
