Mittnordenleden Södra Berget-Vintertjärn

The Mittnorden Trail between Södra berget and Vintertjärn offers mostly hiking along well-trodden forest paths that wind over open rocky areas. The climbing is noticeable, but not extreme. Here the forest is really old in places, with centuries-old pines. After just over a kilometer, you pass Jaktkojan, which used to be the home of forest rangers, but is now open for overnight stays with a handful of bunks. In the middle of the route is Fågelbergsstugan, which in the meantime is kept open with catering. It can also be rented for overnight stays for larger groups. On the south side of the house is a popular sun bench where it is nice to rest and recharge your batteries. To Södra berget (Friluftscentrum stop) there is a bus service from Sundsvall bus station, and at Vintertjärn (Vintertjärn or Sommartjärn stop) line 142 passes between Matfors and Sundsvall. The route is just under 8 km long.
