Description

From Prästhällan's viewpoint you have a nice view of Dorotea village and in clear weather you can see all the way to Borgafjällsmassiven. During the trip up here, you hike in beautiful and magical nature with lichen-covered coniferous forest and mighty boulders.

Prästhällan is located on the eastern side of Bergvattensjön and the mountain is actually called Oxhornsberget. The name Prästhällan comes from the priest and Lapland researcher Nensén who took his daily morning walks up here.

The hike starts at Hotel Dorotea where there is also parking. Follow signs towards Prästhällan. Along the way up to Marike's craft shop there is a sign pointing right towards Prästhällan.

From here, the path begins and climbs up through sparse coniferous forest. After a few hundred meters, the path splits with signs towards Prästhällan in both directions. To the right you will find the viewpoint from where you can see all the way to the mountains. There are also tables and benches here.

To the left, the path leads to a shelter. Even from here you are offered a nice view of Dorotea and towards the low mountain massif of Blaikfjället. If you instead go straight ahead at the junction, the path continues down towards Skolskogen's rest area.

The hike from the hotel to the viewpoint is about 500 m one way.
