Description
Björnberget is a hilly, almost untouched area that is home to virgin spruce forest. Tall plants thrive on the mineral-rich bedrock.
Alum shale can be found in the lower parts of the reserve, which supports rich vegetation. A thick, tall, virgin spruce forest along with very tall herbs therefore grow on some of the area’s slopes and in Järjadalen valley. There is also plenty of dead wood, which many insects and fungi like. On the plateaus, the forest is low and sparse, with a lot of birch.

Från Björndalen är det en fin vandring genom urskogen upp till Björnberget. Men se till att snöra på dig rejäla kängor, stigen är snarare terräng på de flesta ställen. Det finns inga markeringar men är man uppmärksam så går det att hitta sin väg genom att hålla sig till huggningen där en gammal ledning gått. Själv blev jag snuvad på konfekten när toppen höljdes i dimma lagom till min bestigning, men det är ju äventyret som räknas!
Utsikstornet är borta. Det finns en mobilmast och en låst stuga. Utsikten är emellertid en dröm.
