Nordvärmlandsleden

Nordvärmlandsleden is a 52 km long hiking trail that stretches through varied and hilly terrain, from Ransby in the south to Höljes in the north. The trail offers spectacular views, historic farm environments and good opportunities for outdoor activities.

Nordvärmlandsleden takes you through some of Värmland's most magnificent natural areas. Along the trail you pass high vantage points, including Långberget and Granberget (700 m above sea level), which is Värmland's highest point. The walk takes you through forested mountains, lakes and moorland, where you have the chance to see moose, deer and a variety of bird species. There is a picnic area at Näcksjön, where you can take a dip or try your luck at fishing.

During the hike you will also pass several cultural-historical cottages, some of which are open to visitors. Along the trail there are rest areas with shelters, making it perfect for longer hikes with the possibility of spending the night in nature. Trail status

Current trail status: Open all year round, but can be difficult to walk in snow and rainy periods. No winter entertainment.

Route and entrances: Start in Ransby (Utmarksmuseet) and finish in Höljes. There is a connecting trail to Sysslebäck.

Trail markings: Orange markings and signs.

Special rules: Respect the right of public access and the area's cultural-historical environments.

Service

Drinking water and food: The nearest grocery store is in Sysslebäck or in Höljes.

Toilets: Public toilets are located at Utmarksmuseet in Ransby and Långbergets Sporthotell.

Parking lots: Parking facilities are available at Utmarksmuseet in Ransby and at Långbergets Sporthotell.

Public transport: There are bus connections between Ransby, Sysslebäck and Höljes for those who want to walk a shorter distance. See the current timetable via Värmlandstrafik.

Guide services: Available on request through Långbergets Sporthotell.

Garbage management: No garbage collection along the trail, take your garbage home.
