Description
Not far from central Bålsta is Knarrbacken and Väppeby udde, a scenic area that today consists of a few wooded hills in the open agricultural landscape and some association premises. The area around Knarrbacken has a long history. There are several ancient monuments from different eras and the area is a nice excursion destination. Follow the red/black signs that take you via a hilly path to a viewpoint up on the mountain. At the viewpoint there is a bench with a nice view of the landscape and an information sign about the cultural history of the area. A perfect place to take a break, perhaps with a packed lunch.

From the Draget interchange, follow the southern Bålstaleden to Kalmarrodenllen where you drive straight ahead to enter Kalmarleden. Continue along Kalmarleden for about 1.5 kilometers, then follow the signs to Knarrbacken. The parking lot for 2-3 cars can be found after about 400 meters. The path up the mountain starts along the road about 50 meters before the parking lot, or about 150 meters after parking along the bike path.
