Salstaleden, 7 km

Hike in a river environment, through pastures, discover old oaks and feel the wings of history at Salsta Castle. Blue markings on posts and trees lead you right into nature.

Salstaleden offers both cultural history, castle environment, ice age remains and beautiful old oaks. The walk runs between Vattholma and Skyttorp train stations, largely up on Vattholmaåsen, which winds its way through the landscape. You pass Salsta Castle and sometimes glimpse Fyrisån. North of Salsta Castle at the bridge over Fyrisån you can see traces of beavers. There is a picnic area with picnic tables near the bridge.

The trail is seven kilometers long. Between Vattholma and Salsta the trail runs on a gravel road. From Salsta to Skyttorp, the trail follows the ridge on forest paths and through pastures.

You can expect it to take about 2.5 hours to walk the trail.

Due to spruce bark beetle infestation, parts of the forest have been felled along the trail.
