Description
Walk under the mighty crowns of large oak trees and past old hazel bushes that are beginning to look more like trees. In early June, the ground is covered with fragrant lilies of the valley and lots of birds sing from the trees. This is Kalvnäset Nature Reserve on a headland in Lake Tämnaren.
Animals have grazed on Kalvnäset for a long time. In the past, the area was open, the trees were sparse and could grow large and stately. Today the area has become overgrown with younger deciduous trees, but mixed in with these are old large oaks and lime trees.
From the parking lot, a path leads you along a 1.5 km long round through the entire reserve. Along the way you pass two rest areas with fireplaces. In the northwestern part of the area there is a rocky outcrop where you get a nice view of Tämnaren. Feel free to bring your binoculars.
