Description
At the far end of the Hållnäs peninsula, the Hållnäs Trail winds its way along the sea. The hiking trail connects nature reserves and beautiful spots, and offers unique and varied nature.
The trail runs just inside the coast but with the sea ever present. In many places it is possible to make detours down to the water, do not miss it! The Hållnäs coast is one of the few places in Sweden where you can see the sun both rise and set in the sea from the mainland.
The entire route from Källarberget Nature Reserve to Fågelsundet is 13 km long, but you can also sell to hike any of the sections below. The trail goes both on forest paths, over rocks and along gravel roads.
**Källarberget-Kapplasse, 3.8 km
The section starts at the parking lot of Källarberget Nature Reserve. The walk follows a path through the reserve where you pass a platform with panoramic views of the sea, Lotsstugan which can be rented for overnight stays and a barbecue area with a wood store. Beyond the reserve you pass on small roads and paths past Sikhjälmakusten's cottage area. There is a small camping with a sandy beach and bathing jetty. After the campsite, the trail turns right, but feel free to make a detour to the rocky outcrops on the left.
A little further on you will come to Sikhjälma fishing port. Here you can make a detour along the road to the right to Grönlundsbacken, Hållnäs' largest burial ground with some 50 ancient remains. From the fishing port, follow a kilometer of asphalt road to the parking lot at Kapplasse nature reserve.
Parking is available at Källarberget and Kapplasse.
**Kapplasse-Rossholm, 5.1 km
From the parking lot at Kapplasse nature reserve, the Hållnäsleden trail follows the reserve's path towards Kapplasseklippan. But after about 1 km the trail turns right towards Immarviken and Rossholm. Feel free to make a detour by continuing the path with Kapplasseklippan where you are met by fantastic rock formations and shingle fields reminiscent of the High Coast.
The trail then continues through fine rocky forest to Korsudden where there is a shelter with a barbecue area. The shelter can be used for overnight stays. Then a forest walk to Immarviken awaits. There are small natural rock pools with sandy bottoms. From Immarviken you walk along a wide path towards Rossholm and soon come out on a gravel road at "Jaktkojan". Here, visitors are welcome to buy some firewood for a symbolic sum to make a fire.
Parking is available at Kapplasse nature reserve and at Rossholm.
**Rossholm-Fågelsundet, 4.2 km
Rossholm is a former military firing range. Here the trail follows the gravel road for just over a kilometer before it turns left into the forest. Just as you reach the sea, there are fine rocks that are perfect for a coffee break.
Then follow the coast to the northeast and pass Storsandshålet with rocks and sand inside the bay. As you approach Fågelsundet, the trail turns left onto Fågelsundets naturstig. You pass a picnic area with tables by the sea and then continue to a parking lot. Fågelsundets naturstig is part of the nature reserve Björns skärgård.
Parking is available at Rossholm and at Fågelsundet.
