Description
Gropholmarna is the name of two islands in the Dalälven, just south of the outlet. With reliable ice in winter or with a reliable craft, you can reach the islands themselves. Otherwise, you can experience the reserve by hiking the Upplandsleden trail along the eastern side of the river. The trail passes old trees and a peaceful stretch of river. If you don't want to walk that far, there is a parking lot at the eastern edge of the area with a few hundred meters walk to a beautifully located picnic area with shelters, benches and a fireplace.
A hiking tip is to hike the Upplandsleden trail south from Marma to Gropholmarna. Along the route, the Dalälven offers much stronger currents. Both the reserve's rest area and a shelter further south offer shelter for the night, so overnight stays are also possible. The river flows calmly past below the riverbank, but in some places the bank is steep.
Gropholmarna is a nature reserve. Remember that special rules apply in the reserve, read more about the regulations by clicking on the link below.

Favoritställe. Perfekt att grilla med familjen och väldigt fint. Går säkert tälta där med eller sova i vindskyddet.
