Fullerö backar

Fullerö hills is a nice destination north of Uppsala. Vattholmaåsen runs right through the reserve. On the sunny slopes of the ridge, the protected hillock flower blooms in late April/early May. At first, the flower buds stand out like fuzzy little balls. A few weeks later the large purple flowers unfold.

Fullerö slopes is a fairly small reserve. A trail just over a kilometer long leads you up the ridge, along the ridge crest and on through the oak and hazel forest. The hike goes through pastures where there are animals in summer. The long presence of grazing animals has created a beautiful environment where many plants and insects thrive. Among other things, the endangered drum grasshopper is found here. If you visit Fullerö in late summer, you can see drum grasshoppers flying with bright red hind wings and a drumming sound.

Feel free to bring your picnic basket. Sit down on the ridge to enjoy the surroundings and the view of the Uppland plain. In addition to flowers, there are graves from the Iron Age.
