Västra Järvafältets naturreservat

Västra Järvafältet is a large and varied natural area. It is an old cultural landscape with grazing animals, lakes, meadows and forests. Many different plant and animal species thrive here. It is easy to get around by bike and on foot along the gravel roads and there are several prepared rest areas. The Järvaleden trail runs through the entire reserve.

Säbysjön is a well-known bird lake. Säby farm is a listed building and the warehouse now houses a café. Igelbäcken starts at Säbysjön and flows south through the reserve.

Översjön is a beautiful lake in the northern part of the nature reserve. At Granskog and Tånglöt there are jogging tracks and sometimes ski tracks in winter. At Finnängen and Nysved there are remains of old crofts. Near Rocksta farm there is a rest area and an ancient castle.

The purpose of the nature reserve is to preserve a large natural area close to urban areas and a cultural landscape of great value for the public's outdoor life, and to protect and nurture the area's scientific and cultural values.

The management of nature in the reserve is aimed at preserving and developing biodiversity while ensuring that nature is easily accessible and attractive to visitors.
