Description

This stage takes you past one of Stockholm County's most important bird lakes and continues through open landscapes, cultural areas and forests with interesting bogs around Brottby.

The stage starts at Örsta and Angarnssjöängen Nature Reserve, which is easy to get to by public transport. In addition to exciting bird life at the lake meadow, there is also one of the county's largest rock carvings from the Bronze Age. The carving shows horses, carts and two ships, the upper one is 3.65 meters long. The nature reserve has several rest areas with wind shelter, tent site, fireplace, wood storage, toilet and lookout tower.

From Angarnssjöängen Nature Reserve, the Roslagsleden trail continues through the agricultural landscape to Össeby IP with shower, toilet and the opportunity to fill up on drinking water. There is also a cozy barbecue area here.

In Brottby community, there is a grocery store, gas station and local history museum with a Sunday café open in the summer on certain occasions. Roslagsleden also crosses Långhundraleden at the bridge in Brottby. At that time, the most important shipping route for Vikings between Uppsala and the Baltic Sea, today one of Uppland's longest paddle routes peppered with attractions.

From Brottby you can make several detours from the trail in environments rich in ancient history. Nearby are runestones, burial grounds and other remains that testify to the historical importance of the place next to Långhundraleden. Össeby church ruins date back to the Middle Ages, while Össeby-Garn church was built as early as the 13th century. Next to the church is the Vallentuna school museum and the Toftesta holme bathing area. At Vada sjökullar there are chieftain graves from the late Iron Age and a species-rich flora.

The Roslagsleden trail continues north from Brottby on forest-lined gravel roads and paths past Römossen and Långmossen with their wetlands and exciting flora and fauna.

The stage ends in Lövhagen next to the bus stop and near the Brollsta golf course.
