Description

The Nora-Ekeby cultural trail is an approximately 6 kilometer long hiking and cycling trail in Danderyd that takes the visitor through an area with rich history, archaeological remains and cultural environments. The trail passes runic carvings, burial grounds, farms, crofts and older buildings as well as nature areas such as Ekebysjön nature reserve.

The trail starts at Kvarnparken and goes via Nora Square, Danderyd Church and around Ekebysjön, to end at Ekeby and Rinkeby farms. Along the way there are signs and places linked to ancient, medieval and modern history. Among other things, there are runic carvings from the Viking Age, old farms, 19th-century buildings and traces of Danderyd's development from an agricultural community to a residential community.

Lake Ekeby and the surrounding pastures are important natural environments with high nature values. The cultural trail is also a way to experience the landscape that has shaped Danderyd over the millennia, from the Stone Age archipelago to today's urban area.

Visitors can choose where to start the tour, and at what pace they want to take part in the various sights. It is a walk in both nature and history.
