Description
In the far south of Haninge's archipelago lies Nåttarö, with its fine walking areas and fabulous sandy beaches. Nåttarö is protected as a nature reserve and is managed by the Archipelago Foundation. At Skarsand and Storsand on the outside of the island, you can sunbathe or look for rare plants on some of the archipelago's finest sandy beaches. Here and there, barren rocky outcrops rise above the surroundings and provide fine views. The southern parts of the island are more varied than the northern parts. There is more spruce forest, deciduous trees and marshland. There are perfect berry and mushroom fields and you may come across one of the island's planted fallow deer. Bird life on the island is rich and outside Öruddsviken, just west of Nåttarö, there is a bird sanctuary where, among other things, rarities such as the mallard and gadwall nest.
