Description
The coast towards Lilla Värtan is south-facing and has a hilly archipelago landscape. Ekbacken's spring flora is beautiful and the hollow oaks there are home to the barn owl.
The area consists mainly of mountains, which means that it is not entirely accessible, but there are many nice viewpoints. A path runs partly along the water, both on land and on piers, some passages are steep and can be difficult to walk on during the winter when it is slippery. Closest to Larsberg's jetty is a nature trail in Ekbacken, which is a beautiful deciduous forest grove. In the bright spring greenery, the hazel grove is a bright place. When the leaves come and the greenery thickens, it is like stepping into large halls. Fine pines and oaks grow here and most of the area is a so-called key biotope, a forest area with particularly high natural values. If you walk down towards the pier, you end up at Brostugan, a cultural building from the time of the very first lidingö bridge that was located here. Near Larsberg's jetty there is a small sandy beach with many seabirds.
The Öskure croft, Larsberg bridge cabin and Lidingsberg farm are valuable preserved cultural buildings. Of the croft Gropen, however, only the foundation remains after a fire. The foundation walls from Baggeby farm remain as an ancient monument and around the farm there are also stairs to the water and a barely visible avenue. Lidingsberg farm is private land with park-like surroundings. In the spring, the ground is covered with wood anemones.
The area is difficult to explore by bicycle and is only partly accessible by wheelchair. There are many seats for those who venture out into the hilly terrain.
